The Penanti by-election

As we are all aware, BN have officially announced that they will not contest the by-election in Penanti citing that they don't want to fall into the trap of political gamesmanship supposedly played by the opposition says BN's chief Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Well firstly a political party suppose to play the political games as that is their purpose, so whose Najib's fooling here, or he thinks that we are stupid like many other politicians but we taught them a lesson in the last general election and the many by-elections that succeeded it. Secondly, I don't know what the BN has against elections as BN seems to hate it allot.

Of course I would not get into the speculating business as to why the decision was made, some say that the many by-election defeats is the reason, while others claimed that unnecessary by-election is a was of public money and so on. Well I don't why they make such claims as it is an intelligent move not to contest what ever the reason may be, as going by their track record since the last year general election, the unpopularity of BN has plummeted to an all time low(subjective in nature this claim may be, but going by the exit poll in the subsequent by-elections my view may not be far off the mark), so it makes perfect sense not to participate. What is the rational of spending resources for an election knowing that you are going to lose in the first place.

It is better to keep your war chest for future battles where the odds are not against you. However the future in this case depends entirely on how Najib performs as a Prime Minister. The tide may change if he performs, but failure to do so will mean that BN will be overpowered by the second wave tsunami that is waiting to erupt after the first one nearly change the course of history for Malaysia. BN barely survived when the fist one hit, now still wounded by the first tsunami, the second one will be a knockout blow for BN unless they can someway redirect the tsunami towards the opposition, either way one them will feel the devastation so is a question of who.

Back to the by-election don't expect BN absence to be a blessing, as BN shadow looms large in the by-election as they can help the opponent of the opposition to win. That will be a blow to the opposition if that is to occur.

Besides that, they could be planning to observe the opposition ways of doing things so it is best that the opposition lay low and just campaign modestly, enough to defeat the opponent while keeping an eye on BN's plans and activities. Doing so will establish clearly the real reason for BN's the decision not to contest. The Machiavelli in Najib must be a reminder for the opposition leaders not to keep their guard down and refrain from thinking that the war has been won when in actual fact it is just a battle.

Finally I wish the best for the candidates in Penanti and is waiting in anticipation forBN's tactics in bringing down the opposition. I assume they will be surprises, so I hope that both the opposition and the ruling coalition will not let me down. I aspect thins to get down and dirty in this by-election.
