THE YOUTH DILEMMA

Youth life is challenging.As a youth myself the challenge of youth ranges from economical, social, educational and despite in small number, politics. With some many challenges, youth is facing a dilemma. I begin with economical dilemma. Most youths will attend college therefore their is an oppourtinity cost that is lost as that time in college could be used as time to work an earn a living. But wait a minute, what about the future as at least a degree is needed to find a resonable job. So that the first dilemma. More so when you are not acedamicaly inclined so you will struggle in college. There should be a recognition that a degree is not everything but it is only onething. Then there is the uphill task of finding a job. Many youth despite having a degree is still unemployed so the youth that in that situation will have a tougher dilemma. Then there is the car loan to pay and thoose who started a family will even have to buy a house, so the will have to pay the house mortgage, so natuaralythere will struggle financially. Then there is the education dilemma.l Which path should I take, should I take the path of doing a diploma or A- levels. Hmmm what to do, since we youth don't have a crystall ball the effect of that life deciding decision can't be known. Will we make the right decision or will we make the the wrong decision. Then there is the important decision of what subjectsdegree to pursue, business or enginering, which university should I go. Decisions, decisions, decisions. Futhermore, there is also the academic pressure."YOU MUST GET ALL A's" that conversation is a common one for youth whon parents are exam centric.Soon the Malaysian society will come the understanding of the importance of a well round individual. The effect of over emphasizezing in academic can be seen. Such an example is the fall of the standard of leadership here in Malaysia. We used to have great leaders as the education system then cultivate leadership and social skills as students are encourage to take part on activities such as scouts and sports. Finally ther is the social dilemma. This dilemma is caused by the thing called peer pressure that is commonly present in youth. Peer pressure caused the youth to challenge the ways of their parents or the society. To be specific that caused youth to break family laws or society laws as they want to follow their friends just to fit in, however the friends ways may not necessary are in line with the parents laws or society laws for example curfew hours and doing drugs. In conclusion the youth is an interesting and challenging time as we are establishing our place in society. It's important to tressure the momment by making the right decisions and avoiding wrong one's.

RACIAL UNITY AND PROGRESS OF A NATION

Progress. A word that is central to who we are as humans. Well maybe some of you might say animals evolve to however the progress they made are unrivalled by human progress. The progress we made from the days of tribes and superstitions are replace by the human reasoning that ushered in a new dawn of sciencetific discoveries thus changing the way mankind live. Tribal practices that doesn't comply with reason have been replaced by a more purposeful way of doing things. From politics to commerce to society itself we have created a philosophy in which any assault on resoning should not be compremise. However in Malaysia progess in the political and social mindsent some way somehow stalled. If we look at Malaysian society today and compared it with malayan society during the colonial times nothing seems to change except for the infrastructure of the country. We can see know as we can see then that the races that compremise the peninsula are still suspicious of each other just like in the 60s. Efforts to unite the races are strongly oppose by the old guardian that indoctrinated the old believe of the 1940s-1960sto the youth therefore ensuring the continuation of the old belive although they are well aware that we are living in the year 2009. Other socieities from different country such as the US have abandoned their racial past past and embrace the future. The election of president Obama an african american minority is the best example. Then their is the institutions that incorparate that old believe most prominent is none other than the rulling party of Malaysia the Nationalf Front lead by UMNO a political party founded on the philosophy of racial sumpremacy despite the fact that in world war2 fasciscsm an extreme level of racial supremacy was defeated by the allied forces which ushured in the value of universality,equality,freedom and the spirit of appreciating for plurarity. The blanket of fear and mistrust causeses this positive values to be blocked. Therefore as the whole world move foward Malaysia remain in the nostalgic era ot the mid 50s. Why you say should we change well fist of foremost the racial division among us in the 60s cause many race riots that caused our economy to stagnate as which investor in ther right mind would want to invest in a country plunged in a racial turmoil. Then a nation that is not cohessive will not prosper as other countries which have a dominant race will have and advantage over us as their citizens are united to uphold their nation's interest where as Malaysians will uphold racial interests thus creating conflict not to mention loss of focus due the fact of confusion on thre part of the direction that the country is going. Futhermore, the world is now integreated so is a nation. Not caring about other races will only create problem as the problem of the other race will become the nation's problem for example the Hindaft issue which effect us economically as uncertainty of the stability of the country cause the market to plumet as other regional burses posted huge gains. The market dosen't judge so if you have money inthe stock market wheter your are malays,chinese or indians chances are you lost money in the market. Finally we can draw each race strenght to create a prosperus Malaysia. That is way the national unity is important for our country. Once thr issue of race has been settled we can now talk about how to create a progessive nation withould the interuption of petty issues cause by racial view of things.
